Marquees at Citicorp Center

New York, NY

Architect

Gwathmey Siegal Architects

Cost

$1.3 Million

When Citicorp decided to add large entrance signs at multiple entry locations to their prestigious Citicorp Center in mid-Manhattan, RSD was selected to design the structures. Throughout the design, RSD worked with the fabricator to ensure that its design assumptions were realizable. The Architect, Gwathmey Siegel, had designed each of the 5 entrance signs differently but with the common theme of a free-form curved truss structure supporting aluminum rectangles 5 feet high arranged in a radial pattern. The effect was similar to a large grille or louver with vertical fins or blades on which the Citicorp emblem and name would be placed.
