This project included the design of a 52 story office tower with an arched roof and connecting multi-curved glass atrium which mirrors the Tower’s vaulted roof lines. The Wells Fargo Center Tower has a skin of granite and glass applied to the exterior wind resisting column - spandrel frames. The foundations consist of drilled piers to rock. The structural system is a composite, exterior tube design, with wind and seismic resistance provided by steel - concrete perimeter columns. The interior gravity columns and beams are structural steel. The floor system consists of metal decking and light weight concrete slabs. The Atrium’s roof structure consists of arched wide flange and tube sections supporting steel pipes and glazing.
